Skincare Routine 2018 – How I Manage Acne Prone Skin

It’s been quite awhile since I have shared my skincare routine on here and since then it has changed dramatically. Over the past year I have slowly been incorporating more natural products into my routine. Actually, most of the stuff I use is natural except for a few things that I have not found replacements for. I hope this helps you and maybe you will find a few things you would like to try for yourself! For reference, my skin is acne prone, sensitive, and somewhat oily. It scars very easily and my pores are easily clogged as well.

Now, on to the fun stuff!

Step One- Cleanse

20180630_160253

In the morning and at night I cleanse with my LUSH Fresh Farmacy facial bar. This works miracles!!! If you are familiar with Lush, it is a natural skincare company that makes products using fresh ingredients. This has chamomile which soothes my skin and tea tree which helps prevent acne. My skin is super sensitive so this cleans it off without being irritating it. I use a facial scrubby thing (I have no idea what this is called!) If you’re skin is too sensitive for exfoliators, but face wash alone isn’t enough, I seriously beg you to try one of these! They are super cheap on Amazon or even at Walmart. Using this gets all the gunk out from inside my pores, and helps the rest of the products I use work better. If you don’t want to spend the money on Fresh Farmacy, I love this face wash from YesTo (It even has the facial scrubby included!). I have been using this in the shower and I love it! Also, before I wash my face I normally use a makeup remover wipe first. The Simple Micellar Water wipes are the best that I have tried!

Step Two- Tone

20180630_160136

After I wash my face I always use witch hazel. I started using witch hazel to help with enlarged pores and excess oil but the more I used it, the more I realized how it helped with so much more. I use the Thayer’s Witch Hazel with Rose. This is a lot more gentle than 100% witch hazel (I went through 2 bottles of 100% witch hazel before switching to Thayer’s). It has aloe which helps heal, calm, and protect your skin, while the rose helps soothe and soften. Honestly, I used to think toner was a waste of time and money but since using this, I realize what a big difference it can make! I just take some on a cotton pad and pretty much drench my face and neck in it after cleansing morning and night!

Step Three- Moisturize

20180630_160014

So I know this is excessive but I have 2 different moisturizers.. One for morning and one for night. Because my skin gets oily during the day I have to use a more light weight moisturizer, and at night I like to use an oil because they are so good for your skin! I have been using the Skin Laundry Essential Daily Moisturizer all spring and summer and I am seriously obsessed with it. It makes my face feel super soft and somehow bouncy ( I guess you would call that supple?? lol).  At $30 this is the most pricey part of my skincare routine. I am willing to buy it though since it does last me at least 4 months, and makes such a big difference. It works great with any foundation, doesn’t add oil to my face, and doesn’t break me out.

20180630_160117

At night I use the DermaE Radiant Glow Oil. This is an all natural face oil made by SunkissAlba on YouTube. I have tried a ton of face oils (high and low end) and this is my favorite. This also doubles as my eye moisturizer, because of that I don’t have an eye cream (If I were keep one on hand always, it would be the Origins Ginzeng Eye Cream).

Step Three – Treatment

20180630_155934

So I have two more products that I use. Like I said before, my skin scars super easily. And they last for ever 😦 Vitamin C is great for scarring but most serums I have tried break me out. It was pretty much a vicious cycle of breaking out, clearing up, scarring, and then breaking out again. The only Vitamin C serum that I have noticed results with, while not breaking me out is the DermaE Vitamin C Serum. My skin has cleared up dramatically since using it. I use this every single night after toning, and before I use my face oil.

20180630_160035

Whenever I do get acne I try to fight it before it gets inflamed. Frankincense essential oil is great for this but I personally prefer the Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. This is all natural with mainly essential oils. It works great without over drying my skin. I have gone through two of these.

Step Four – Tumeric

20180630_160204

So the last, but pretty effective product is Tumeric. I take Tumeric every. single. day. It is insaaannneee what a difference it makes! If you have acne prone, inflamed skin, I seriously encourage you to try taking Tumeric! If I go a couple days without taking it, I notice that my skin starts to break out again. I won’t type out all the things that it is good for, but it is anti-inflammatory which helps with hormonal acne (which is the literal worst kind :/ ).  Take Tumeric, and see all your problems go away (Not really lol).

And that is it! I have used these products since around April and I have never had more clear skin (since I was 12 at least lol). I’m sure a lot of it has to do with becoming older, but I do have very acne prone skin, and I notice that whenever I let up using any of these things/methods, I start to break out more. I hope this helps! To end this I’m going to share some pictures of my skin now. I don’t have any of when my skin was super bad but just know… that it was lol.

My Favorite Fall Accessories

Fall is finally here! I absolutely love fall and everything that comes with it:) The pumpkin spice everything, warmer clothes, and delicious scents Bath and Body comes out with:) Here are some of my favorite fall accessories!

Germ-X is a must have product for me every day of the year but I looovveee the smell of Bath and Body’s during the fall time. Coconut Pumpkin Latte is by far my favorite! It’s 3 of my favorite flavors rolled into one great scent! Plus, with fall comes flu season and viruses, I wash my hands like a crazy person so this comes in handy when I can’t get to a sink right away.

I use this palette basically everyday. But with colder weather comes warmer eyeshadows😂 This is my go-to palette!

I love hats. In the summer i prefer hats to sunglasses I just think they are alot cuter. Beanies are one of my favorite things though 😍 My mom bought me this one last year and I love it because it matches alot of my outfits. I also have a purple one and teal.

Obviously Im bad at taking pictures😝 I see these type of boots EVERYWHERE during fall. They are the pinterest shoe of fall basically. My friend talked me into buying these at a yard sale recently and I loovveee them! I normally don’t wear wedges or heels because I am tall anyways, but these are so cute I don’t care.  Oh and they wear only like 7$

BBW came out with this scent last year and I fell in love😍😍😍 I haven’t seen it yet this year though which breaks my heart:( It is sooo warm and cozy smelling! Plus the bottle looks like a cable knit sweater.. And yes I am the type of person who switches body sprays with the seasons😄

I also coordinate lipsticks with the seasons. These two from colourpop are my top picks for this fall. Aquarius is my perfect everyday color.  And Dalia is my favorite dark lipstick. (My little sister is also named Dalia:)

Tj said that he can also tell what season it is by looking at my nail polish. The two I bought for this fall are Essie’s Stylenomics (a dark forest green) and Sally Hansen’s Navy Fleet (a light colored navy).

I hope you enjoyed this post! I love seeing people’s favorites and what they love! Have a blessed day!

10 Ways To Look Less Tired

It doesn’t matter if I get 8 hours of sleep or 5 hours, I always look tired. I have had dark circles under my eyes even when I was little. So with that being said, I have learned a thing or two about how to look awake, fresh, and rejuvenated:)

1- Avoid dark colors

Especially if you already have dark hair and eyes (like me), wearing a black shirt or even a dark lipstick can draw more attention to dark circles under your eyes. Even black eyeliner can drag you down. Try to opt out for an eyeliner that compliments your eye color. (I use copper or purple since I have brown eyes)

2-Wear your hair in a half up-do.

With all of my hair up, I look tired. With all of my hair down, I look tired. But wearing a half up-do opens up and frames the face. Plus its in style now!

3- Use a color correcting concealer.

Color correcting is definitely not something I was on board with. Except for peach toned concealers. I got mine from NYX for only 5$ and it really does make such a difference! I either just use the NYX concealer or layer it under my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer.

4- Wear earrings.

What better way to distract others from your dark circles than a pair of sparkly studs?! 😉 But really though, whenever I wear earrings it draws attention away from the center of my face and balances it out. I prefer 💎 studs or something sparkly.

5-Avoid matte finish makeup.

This may be debatable, but in my personal experience whenever I use matte foundation/concealer/lipstick, I tend to look more tired and flat. I prefer more dewy, glowy skin. Or even like a satin finish foundation because I feel like it looks more natural and healthy. (I’m not saying that everyone who uses matte finish foundation looks tired btw)

6- Wash your face with cold water.

When you feel awake, you tend to look more awake and what else wakes you up like a splash of cold water? Personally I love washing my face with cold water in the mornings, though it did take some getting used to!

7- Use light/beige colored eyeshadows.

Whenever I’m in a rush I take a light pinky beige eyeshadow and apply it all over my lid and up to the browbone. This brightens up the whole eye area, makes your eyelashes stand out a bit more, and makes your eyes look bigger.

8- Use an eyecream.

I am a skincare junkie. I love finding new products that help better my skin. This eyecream by Clinique is fairly new and I got it with some of my Sephora points. A hydrated under eye area not only looks healthy and youthful, but also helps prep the skin for makeup.

9-Keep it simple.

Less is more. Whenever I wear a ton of eyeshadow and liner and blush and bronzer and highlighter etc etc….. Throughout the day it can make me look tired. Some nights I wash off my makeup only to find that I looked more tired with it on than I did without. So if you didn’t sleep a lot or have been traveling, or stressed lately try to keep your makeup simplistic.

10-COFFEE☕☕☕

I don’t really think this one deserves an explanation because isn’t coffee the answer to everything?😜

I hope some of these helped you and if you know of anymore let me know! Don’t stress away your joy over vanity (like i tend to do sometimes). Remember that God made you beautiful and for a purpose (dark circles and all)!!

CoverGirl Oh Sugar Lipstick Review

I have been thinking about buying this lipstick for awhile now. Mainly because I love the name (Soda) and the packaging is super cute;) This is a sheer tinted lip balm (like Loreal’s Pop Balm or Maybelline’s Baby Lips). I got mine at Walmart for around 5$ (with a coupon).

First of all, it smells just like Cherry Coke! I don’t know what the rest of the line smells like but Soda smells super delicious!

It looks really dark and intimidating when you open it but since it is a sheer formula, it isn’t as dark on the lips as it looks like it’d be.

wp-image-1001195045jpg.jpeg

Here is a swatch. Since this is a balm, it is not going to be very long-lasting or transfer proof. Also, I exfoliated my lips before applying it which helps a lot with any lipstick.

SAM_2739-1

This is one layer which is pretty pigmented. It almost looks like I just got done eating strawberries;) haha

So, all in all, I really like this lip product! I would definitely buy more from the Oh Sugar line. There was a lot of pretty colors too so I might go back sometime and check the others out:)

My Desk/Vanity Tour

So I finally got a new desk! My old one had a lot of storage which I liked but it was too bulky. I wanted something simple and the Metro Collection desk from Walmart is perfect:)

I loved that it is wood and metal. It gives it an urban vibe to it and can be dressed to match about any theme you like.

SAM_2560.JPG

There is a brid’s eye view. Even without hanging the mirror, I still have lots of room for my laptop, books, planner, or whatever else I’m doing.

wp-image-474326961jpg.jpeg

On the right side of the desktop I have a jewerly holder which I got from Target. It holds all my necklaces and my most used bracelets. I also have a couple nick nacks that I like to keep close by. Oh and that is a picture of my and husband by the way:)

SAM_2554.JPG

On the left side I keep a glass/rose gold desk organizer (also from Target) with my eyeshadow palettes, brushes, and some other products that I use everyday. The elephant lamp my husband bought for me for Christmas last year, it is from Walmart. The big rosegold canister is actually a candle holder with a coconut candle inside (also from Walmart). And the picture behind my lamp is something my little sister made for me:) Itis of sea turles and coral. I just haven’t had a chance to hang it or my mirror up yet.

wp-image-1720539494jpg.jpeg

So I obviously need some lesssons on organization… I bought organizers but they didn’t fit.. I don’t mind the chaos though;) Obviously I store the rest of my makeup here. There’s probably more here than one person should need but thats okay;) I keep my smaller palettes, eyeliners, lipliners, lipsticks, primers etc…… here.

wp-image-1418754313jpg.jpeg

The right side drawer is a drastic change;) I keep my most used stationary stuff here. My planner (to the left), a cute notebook for blog ideas, sticky notes, lots of sticky notes! And I guess I thought it would be a good place to store my car air fresheners here too.. (?) Who knows. haha

SAM_2505.JPG

I also have cat washi tape… isn’t it cute??!!! 😀 I washi taped some of my eyeshadow brushes, nail polishes, and single eyeshadows with it:)

That is it! I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe got to know me a little bit better. Maybe you even got inspired to decorate you desk/vanity:) If you have any questions about where I got anything or prices let me know!

Remember that you are loved through your weaknesses:) , Bryonna

NYX Color Corrector Concealer Review

image

Hello! I picked this concealer up at Ulta last month and have been (surprisingly) loving it! I never really bought into the whole color correcting trend but this concealer may have changed my mind:)

I have always had dark under eyes. Mostly it is because of my bone structure. The light hits my face and cast a shadow under my eyes. But also because my skin is very thin and delicate around my eyes.

image

This concealer has coconut oil in it which makes it blend out easily. (I may or may not have bought this because it said coconut on the packaging…..) I expected a dry, hard to blend concealer but I was wrong! It’s very moisturizing, yet also long lasting:) Even though I have oily skin, this stays throughout an 8-hour workshift with little creasing. However, if you have a really hard time with concealer creasing, I suggest when using this that you set it with a face powder.

image

I got this lightest shade out of the three, and it goes very well with my skin tone:)

This was only 5.99$ at Ulta which is, awesome! Considering a lot of drugstore brand concealers are twice that price.

Now for comparisons….
Would I replace my holy grail, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer with this? Absolutely not. That concealer is my soul-mate and irreplaceable.  But….. this is definitely in my top 3 concealers. It’s perfect for every day,  light coverage.  But whenever I’m super tired, or have a long day ahead of me, or want something a little more full coverage,  I use my Nars concealer. Sometimes I’ll use them together by blending the Nars concealer over the NYX one…. It’s a match made in heaven:)

I hope this review helped you and that you enjoyed it! I love reviews so there will definitely be more to come! Have a blessed week!:)

May Favorites!

Summer is finally here!!! And with it, my May favorites! I have some beauty products and some random stuff that I have used a lot and enjoyed this month. Let me know some of your favorites in the comments!

image

image

So I actually read about 5 books in May but these two were my favorites♡♡ Dee Henderson never disappoints and Taken was one of her best. If I Run was…. I don’t even know. Outstanding. It was sooooo good! Although I didn’t know it was the first in a three part series:/ so I have to wait a year to read the second one:( This book was amazing though. One of the best I have read suspense wise in years.

image

image

This is Lunch Money from Colourpop. I have had this highlighter for about a year but I recently started using it again and fell in love:) It’s a pretty champagne toned cream highlight.

image

Another beauty favorite is this Wet n Wild blush in Rose Champagne. I am not a blush person. I just never reach for it and when I do its the same blush I have used for like, 5 years. Lol
But I seen this at Walmart and fell in love with this color! It is so different than what I have seen before. And the quality is as good as my Sephora blush (Wet n Wild never disappoints).

image

Considering this is the only eyeshadow palette I have used this month… there’s no need to say how much I love this palette. If I could only have one palette forever it’d be this one:) I did a review with swatches if you wanna check that out:)

image

I have been using this concealer on work days and whenever I just need to go somewhere real quick. By no means does it replace my Nars concealer but for every day, its a good option because its cheap and does a decent job:) A little goes a long way with this concealer and I love the coverage:) I got a shade too light for me though so I am going to purchase a darker one soon:)

image

image

My two favorite songs have been these two.  But I have been listening to Bizzle’s album Surrender nonstop. Every song is awesome:) Especially Better With You:)

Too Faced Natural Matte Palette Review

So for my birthday I went to Ulta and one of things I bought was this palette:) Ever since I got into makeup I have wanted the Too Faced Natural Eyes palette… Until they came out with the matte version of it!!

image

First of all… the packaging is goooorrgeous!! It’s a tin palette with almost a victorian flare to it:)

image

But even though they killed it on the packaging, it’s the inside that counts;)

I’m a sucker for neutral colors. Especially when it comes to eyeshadow. I honestly dont stray away from neutral colors very much. Every now and then I’ll throw in a purple, blue, or a peach. So these colors are some that I will get a lot of use out of.

This palette is designed for 3 different eye looks. A day look, classic look, and a fashion look which I guess is the most dramatic. It comes with a little pamphlet that shows you how to achieve each of these but honestly,  I haven’t even looked at it;P It is nice for beginners though!

This is my first Too Faced palette and when I bought this I expected great things. I have heard sooooo many good things about their palettes. Especially the chocolate bar ones! The only high-end eyeshadows I have to compare this palette to is Urban Decay, and Tarte (their shadows are amazing btw).

When I first used this palette I was surprised at how powdery they are. I felt like I kept having to apply shadow to get the color to show. Especially with Honey Butter, and Strapless. The longevity of these are about the same as my Urban Decay shadows. I used eyeshadow primer yet I still noticed some creasing. But thats normal for me because I have hooded eyes and oily eyelids (that just sounds weird right? ;P).

I swatched the darkest shade, Sexpresso, next to my Tarte eyeshadow in Picnic Basket.

image

That’s two swipes of Sexpresso and two swipes of Picnic Basket.

Tarte eyeshadows are soo creamy and buttery so compared to those, the Too Faced shadows are powdery. BUT….. compared to Urban Decay’s matte eyeshadows, Too Faced’s are more pigmented.

So, in simpler terms… I would put Too Faced right in between Urban Decay and Tarte.

Here’s some of my favorite shades:) (I marked them with a really cheesy heart sticker in case you can’t tell;)

image

Would I recommend this palette to a friend? – Absolutely!

Would I repurchase this palette? – Yes. I love the colors and the size of this palette. Plus it’s been the only shadows I’ve used since I got it!

Would I rate this in my Holy Grail makeup products? – For now, yes I would! But who knows what the future holds so of course that could change;)

April Favorites 2016

image

This is actually the first year I’ve used sunscreen consistently on my face. This doesn’t break me out and dries down to a semi-matte finish which I appreciate since my skin is so oily on it’s own.

image

My sister bought this for me for my 20th birthday! I loovee the smell of coconut! I’ve been keeping this is my purse to use when my hands get dry.

image

I picked this up a couple of weeks ago at bath and body. I have a weakness for cute water bottles so I had to get it;P

image

I am really surprised that I like this product as much as I do (Loreal Brow Stylus Plumper). It keeps all my crazy brow hairs in place and gives a little bit extra volume.

image

Again…. coconut. 😉 I love the smell of this, plus it’s easier to use than my Vaseline lip therapy.

image

I have literally been listening to this album nonstop for 3 days… I love it. Trust In You, and Come Alive and two of my favorite songs on this album:)

image

So I bought this the beginning of April and have used it almost everyday since. I’m a huge lipgloss lover in the summer. So a coconut flavored lipgloss just called my name. This is a clear gloss with quite a bit of shimmer so if you don’t like shimmery glosses this may not be for you.

image

My mom got me this mason jar bottle thing for my birthday and it is sooooo cute!!! As you can see I love drinking my sweet tea out of it:)

So there’s my April Favorites!  I hope you enjoyed! Have a great month of May!

Fresh Soy Face Cleanser and Rose Face Mask Review

Hello!!! So this month (April) is my birthday month!!! I will be 20 on the 27th and I already feel old…;)

For those of you who don’t know, when you place an order online or buy something in store from Sephora during your birthday month, you get free birthday samples! This time I got to choose between two and I chose this duo by the brand Fresh:) It includes a mini Soy Face Cleanser and Rose Mask. I have seen these two products everywhere and it won’t take you very long on the Sephora website to see how popular they are. So heres my review! I hope you enjoy and that it helps!
image

Cleanser:
This is a watery gel cleanser with no color. When I first used this I wasn’t expecting it to smell like cucumbers! I love cucumbers though so that’s a plus from me! I have used this in the shower, to take my makeup off, and after I used an oil cleanser so I have tried it different ways. Honestly, I wasn’t too impressed with this product. I don’t hate it but I wouldn’t buy it. It didn’t take my makeup off very well, and it honestly didn’t do much for my skin. When I use my Ole Henrikson African Red Tea cleanser, i notice a significant difference! So, the Soy one didn’t measure up. I do really like how it feel a tiny bit tingly when I massage it into my skin though:)

Mask: Okay so you’re probably going to think I’m really dumb for this.. but I was totally not expecting this Rose face mask to smell like well, roses. Lol!! I do not like the smell of strong rose. It reminds me of old lady perfume and can take my breath away (not in a good way either). So the fact that this smells like straight up rose is definitely a downer. As for the actual mask itself, I love it! After using it my face looks more even and toned. It is a gel consistency with actual pieces of rose stuff (?) in it. (I think thats pretty awesome;) I leave it on for 10-30 minutes and then wash it off and apply my moisturizers! Would I buy the full size? Honestly,I don’t know. Definitely not until I experiment with other masks to see if I find one better suited for me.

I hope you enjoyed this and if you have any face mask suggestions please let me know!!! (I love facemasks:)

Xoxo, Bryonna
