Best of Entertainment 2016

Here are my favorite books, movies, and music of 2016!

MOVIES

I love a funny movie. It is just so hard to find a clean one! Mom’s Night Out is now one of my top 10 movies. Even if you aren’t a mom, you will enjoy this!

This movie…. Blew. Me. Away. Wow. I don’t really know how to describe it but you just need to watch it! It’s funny, real, deep, and has an amazing ending.

I was so excited for this movie! This is one of my favorite bible movies! It’s about a Roman centurion tryimg to prove that Jesus is dead.

I don’t own this movie (yet) but I do have a poster! I was not expecting to love this as much as I did! Now I need to read the book:)

MUSIC

This wasn’t a new album for 2016 but it was one I literally listened to almosg every day. In particular this song above

However Bizzle did release a new album this year and evem though at first I wasn’t crazy about it, I really do like it now:)

Sevin is a newly discovered artist for me. He is a Christian rapper but he does rap about some rough topics so probably not the best for little ears. I did enjoy alot of the songs from this album this year:)

BOOKS

I have always liked Terri Blackstock but If I Run took her writing to another level. The story was so different yet amazing! The second to this series releases this year and I already pre-ordered it. If you like crime/suspense go for this book!

I have never met a Dee Henderson book I didn’t love;) Taken was a new release last year (i believe so anyways) and I was not let down! In my opinion…you can never go wrong reading a Dee Henderson book!! If you like realistic crime/police/FBI/suspense/romance genre then this is for you!

Francine Rivers is a new author that I discovered this year. I believe that there is not another author quite like her. This book made me get on my knees and praise God for saving me. True Christian fiction should be like this book. It should draw a reader closer to God and want to open up the bible.  This is basically a telling of the story of Hosea set in the 1850s.

As much as I love Redeeming Love, The Mark of the Lion series has to be my favorite from her. The first book (A Voice In The Wind) ripped my heart out and broke it into a million pieces.  The second book (The Mark of The Lion) was the continuation of the story and I finished it in a day. The third book in this series (An Echo In Darkness) was good, but it wasn’t about thr main characters and it is difficult to follow up after a story like theirs. If you like historical/biblical/romance/heroine/ fiction you will love this. If you don’t like those genres you will still love this;)

I never thought I would find an author I like as much as Dee Henderson…but I have.  Dani Pettrey is not as well known but her writing style and stories are incredible. The Alaskan Courage series was a favorite of mine but my favorite book in the series is Shattered. Hands down. If you like romance/mystery/adventure then read this series!

This book by Dee Henderson was definitely different from her usual story lines. But, I really really loved it. I will definitely be reading the second one when it releases! If you like true crime/mystery/political/small town murder/romance then read this

Once again I was really impressed with Dani Pettrey! Cold Shot was a bool tjay sat on my shelf for months before I decided to read it. It is so good! If you like crime/romance/suspense/action/history then read this

I only have this book out of this series. But Colleen Cobles Sunset Cove series took me by surprise to say the least. I had NO IDEA she could write such amazing mystery novels!!! All 3 books in this series were great! If you like mystery/suspense/crime/romance/beach life then read this series

A non fiction book that not only holds my attention all the way through but also ends up on my favorites list has to be good. Uninvites was more than good it was eye opening, funny, and relatable.

I almost didn’t read this book because I don’t like Ted Dekker.  The Choosing is by his daughter and I assumed her writing style and plots were going to be similat to his.. They aren’t.  She is very talented and has a writing style all her own. If you like dystopian/action/romance/future america type books then read this.

And that’s it! These were not in any particular order, and a lot were not new for 2016 but they were new to me:) I hope you found some good recommendations and if you have any favorite things from 2016 that stood out let me know!!!

My Favorite Fall Accessories

Fall is finally here! I absolutely love fall and everything that comes with it:) The pumpkin spice everything, warmer clothes, and delicious scents Bath and Body comes out with:) Here are some of my favorite fall accessories!

Germ-X is a must have product for me every day of the year but I looovveee the smell of Bath and Body’s during the fall time. Coconut Pumpkin Latte is by far my favorite! It’s 3 of my favorite flavors rolled into one great scent! Plus, with fall comes flu season and viruses, I wash my hands like a crazy person so this comes in handy when I can’t get to a sink right away.

I use this palette basically everyday. But with colder weather comes warmer eyeshadows😂 This is my go-to palette!

I love hats. In the summer i prefer hats to sunglasses I just think they are alot cuter. Beanies are one of my favorite things though 😍 My mom bought me this one last year and I love it because it matches alot of my outfits. I also have a purple one and teal.

Obviously Im bad at taking pictures😝 I see these type of boots EVERYWHERE during fall. They are the pinterest shoe of fall basically. My friend talked me into buying these at a yard sale recently and I loovveee them! I normally don’t wear wedges or heels because I am tall anyways, but these are so cute I don’t care.  Oh and they wear only like 7$

BBW came out with this scent last year and I fell in love😍😍😍 I haven’t seen it yet this year though which breaks my heart:( It is sooo warm and cozy smelling! Plus the bottle looks like a cable knit sweater.. And yes I am the type of person who switches body sprays with the seasons😄

I also coordinate lipsticks with the seasons. These two from colourpop are my top picks for this fall. Aquarius is my perfect everyday color.  And Dalia is my favorite dark lipstick. (My little sister is also named Dalia:)

Tj said that he can also tell what season it is by looking at my nail polish. The two I bought for this fall are Essie’s Stylenomics (a dark forest green) and Sally Hansen’s Navy Fleet (a light colored navy).

I hope you enjoyed this post! I love seeing people’s favorites and what they love! Have a blessed day!

Monday/Work Day Music Playlist

Everyone has those days where they dread either going to work or school. I do mainly on Mondays.. Music is really important to me and speaks to me just as much as reading does. I think it is important that we fill our minds with positive, God-glorifying music. These 10 songs help me to either look forward to the work day ahead of me, or encourage me after a bad day at work.
1 Learning To Be The Light – newworldson
This song reminds me that I am not perfect, and that I am still learning.

2 #Escrow – Flame
I work in retail so I normally have some customers who hate you for no reason at all. It can be really tempting to roll my eyes or say something sarcastic to those people. I like this song because it reminds me that I am storing up treasures in heaven and whenever I encounter a hateful customer, I normally start singing this in my head lol

3 Don’t Fear – Flame feat. V. Rose
Your workplace should also be your mission field! This song is about saying what God wants to you to say and witnessing to others. It can be scary but we shouldn’t fear!

4 Love With Your Life- Hollyn
Honestly, I have kind of been disappointed in Hollyn but this is just a peppy song that wakes me up and reminds me that my love shouldn’t just be shown through words but also actions.

5 These Days – Mandisa
This is like, the ultimate Monday song XD I listen to this just about every Monday and as I listen I pray and thank God for His blessings in the everyday things.

6 Sunshine – Blanca
Again, this is a peppy song that I love to sing along with and dance to:)

7 Better With You – Bizzle
Better With You is probably one of my favorite 10 songs. I absolutely love it! Every time I listen to it, it is like I am singing a love song to God.

8 Believers – Bizzle
Once again, this is one of my favorite top 10 songs! I literally listen to this every single day. It is basically my theme song haha

9 Lights Out – Trip Lee
I love Trip Lee. He is one of the very few Christian rappers left that haven’t sold out yet. And believe me when I say I pray for him to stay strong! This song is off of his Rise album. It is a good reminder that this world is blind and it is our job as Christians to be the light and not to be blind ourselves.

10 Through Your Eyes – Britt Nicole
This is a song that I like to listen to after work. Work can be really depressing sometimes, especially dealing with people who treat you like you are worth dirt. This song is just a good reminder to try and look through His eyes at ourselves and realize that even though some people don’t think we are worth anything, God loves you and cherishes you!

Mondays are hard. The beginning of a work week is always a bummer. I love music and since I have a 20 minute drive to work each day, I have picked out the songs I listen to whenever I dread work, or just need some encouragement after a hard day at work. I hope you enjoy my Monday Playlist and that you find some new songs you enjoy!!

June Favorites 2016

I feel like I haven’t posted in forever… the past two weeks have been crazy. But a good crazy:) God has been showing me and Tj the steps He wants us to take little by little and now that I can see what He had planned, everything just fits together:) I will write about it soon but for now, let me show you some things I have been loving!

image

I got this study at Lifeway and have been sooo excited about it! Ever since I read Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers,  the story of Hosea has interested me. I didn’t buy the videos to go with the book, but I can do the study just fine without them:)

image

I bought this to wear at work because my face gets sooo oily when I’m working, and I wanted something that’s medium to full coverage. This bb cream is awesome i love the texture, finish, and wear of it. The only downside is that it doesn’t have spf in it:/

image

image

I finally got around to buying me a new highlighter feo Colourpop. Spoon is a dark champagne with silver flecks in it:) I seriously love this highlighter!

image

image

image

I also got a lippie stick in the shade Aquarius. This is the most beautiful cool toned nude I have:) I’ve gotten alot of compliments on this color. I love it because it goes great with any look.

image

Me and Tj watched this movie last week but I really loved it:) This is a Christian movie about a young man in the foster care system who is trying to get away from his past. I really recommend this movie especially if you are a young adult or for a youth group:)

That’s all for my June favorites! Summer has gone by way too fast:/ Hopew July will go by slower! Thanks for reading and I hope you enjoyed it!

Summer Essentials 2016

Because this is my favorite time of the year, I wanted to share my favorite products that I use in the summer:)

image

I am pretty good at drinking water not only in the summer but year round. Cute water bottles like this make it easier to stay consistent:)

image

The hot summer days only add to my oily skin:/ These are a must for me in summer. What’s great is that they don’t smudge my make up underneath!

image

Even though I have oily skin… I really love a good highlight;) Lunch Money from Colourpop has been my go-to. And its cheap!

image

I’m the type of person who changes their perfume based on what season it is. Fresh & Clean from Pink has been my #1 summer body for a couple years.

image

Because the days are longer and hotter. I really hate having makeup and dirt on my face at the end of the day. The Garnier Micellar Water is quick, easy, and leaves my face feeling soft:)

image

Sunscreen is probably the most important item you can use during summer. I used to never wear it…. but I have gotten better over the years!  I keep this one with me when I travel and I have a face sunscreen at home:)

image

Some people like sunglasses, others prefer hats. Im too clumsy for sunglasses (I’ve tried). So I stick with hats to keep the sun and my hair out of my face!  This is my favorite one I own. I got it from Florida (obviously) on my senior trip:)

So what are your summer essentials??? Let me know in the comments!

May Favorites!

Summer is finally here!!! And with it, my May favorites! I have some beauty products and some random stuff that I have used a lot and enjoyed this month. Let me know some of your favorites in the comments!

image

image

So I actually read about 5 books in May but these two were my favorites♡♡ Dee Henderson never disappoints and Taken was one of her best. If I Run was…. I don’t even know. Outstanding. It was sooooo good! Although I didn’t know it was the first in a three part series:/ so I have to wait a year to read the second one:( This book was amazing though. One of the best I have read suspense wise in years.

image

image

This is Lunch Money from Colourpop. I have had this highlighter for about a year but I recently started using it again and fell in love:) It’s a pretty champagne toned cream highlight.

image

Another beauty favorite is this Wet n Wild blush in Rose Champagne. I am not a blush person. I just never reach for it and when I do its the same blush I have used for like, 5 years. Lol
But I seen this at Walmart and fell in love with this color! It is so different than what I have seen before. And the quality is as good as my Sephora blush (Wet n Wild never disappoints).

image

Considering this is the only eyeshadow palette I have used this month… there’s no need to say how much I love this palette. If I could only have one palette forever it’d be this one:) I did a review with swatches if you wanna check that out:)

image

I have been using this concealer on work days and whenever I just need to go somewhere real quick. By no means does it replace my Nars concealer but for every day, its a good option because its cheap and does a decent job:) A little goes a long way with this concealer and I love the coverage:) I got a shade too light for me though so I am going to purchase a darker one soon:)

image

image

My two favorite songs have been these two.  But I have been listening to Bizzle’s album Surrender nonstop. Every song is awesome:) Especially Better With You:)
