Skincare Routine 2018 – How I Manage Acne Prone Skin

It’s been quite awhile since I have shared my skincare routine on here and since then it has changed dramatically. Over the past year I have slowly been incorporating more natural products into my routine. Actually, most of the stuff I use is natural except for a few things that I have not found replacements for. I hope this helps you and maybe you will find a few things you would like to try for yourself! For reference, my skin is acne prone, sensitive, and somewhat oily. It scars very easily and my pores are easily clogged as well.

Now, on to the fun stuff!

Step One- Cleanse

In the morning and at night I cleanse with my LUSH Fresh Farmacy facial bar. This works miracles!!! If you are familiar with Lush, it is a natural skincare company that makes products using fresh ingredients. This has chamomile which soothes my skin and tea tree which helps prevent acne. My skin is super sensitive so this cleans it off without being irritating it. I use a facial scrubby thing (I have no idea what this is called!) If you’re skin is too sensitive for exfoliators, but face wash alone isn’t enough, I seriously beg you to try one of these! They are super cheap on Amazon or even at Walmart. Using this gets all the gunk out from inside my pores, and helps the rest of the products I use work better. If you don’t want to spend the money on Fresh Farmacy, I love this face wash from YesTo (It even has the facial scrubby included!). I have been using this in the shower and I love it! Also, before I wash my face I normally use a makeup remover wipe first. The Simple Micellar Water wipes are the best that I have tried!

Step Two- Tone

After I wash my face I always use witch hazel. I started using witch hazel to help with enlarged pores and excess oil but the more I used it, the more I realized how it helped with so much more. I use the Thayer’s Witch Hazel with Rose. This is a lot more gentle than 100% witch hazel (I went through 2 bottles of 100% witch hazel before switching to Thayer’s). It has aloe which helps heal, calm, and protect your skin, while the rose helps soothe and soften. Honestly, I used to think toner was a waste of time and money but since using this, I realize what a big difference it can make! I just take some on a cotton pad and pretty much drench my face and neck in it after cleansing morning and night!

Step Three- Moisturize

So I know this is excessive but I have 2 different moisturizers.. One for morning and one for night. Because my skin gets oily during the day I have to use a more light weight moisturizer, and at night I like to use an oil because they are so good for your skin! I have been using the Skin Laundry Essential Daily Moisturizer all spring and summer and I am seriously obsessed with it. It makes my face feel super soft and somehow bouncy ( I guess you would call that supple?? lol).  At $30 this is the most pricey part of my skincare routine. I am willing to buy it though since it does last me at least 4 months, and makes such a big difference. It works great with any foundation, doesn’t add oil to my face, and doesn’t break me out.

At night I use the DermaE Radiant Glow Oil. This is an all natural face oil made by SunkissAlba on YouTube. I have tried a ton of face oils (high and low end) and this is my favorite. This also doubles as my eye moisturizer, because of that I don’t have an eye cream (If I were keep one on hand always, it would be the Origins Ginzeng Eye Cream).

Step Three – Treatment

So I have two more products that I use. Like I said before, my skin scars super easily. And they last for ever 😦 Vitamin C is great for scarring but most serums I have tried break me out. It was pretty much a vicious cycle of breaking out, clearing up, scarring, and then breaking out again. The only Vitamin C serum that I have noticed results with, while not breaking me out is the DermaE Vitamin C Serum. My skin has cleared up dramatically since using it. I use this every single night after toning, and before I use my face oil.

Whenever I do get acne I try to fight it before it gets inflamed. Frankincense essential oil is great for this but I personally prefer the Burt’s Bees Herbal Blemish Stick. This is all natural with mainly essential oils. It works great without over drying my skin. I have gone through two of these.

Step Four – Tumeric

So the last, but pretty effective product is Tumeric. I take Tumeric every. single. day. It is insaaannneee what a difference it makes! If you have acne prone, inflamed skin, I seriously encourage you to try taking Tumeric! If I go a couple days without taking it, I notice that my skin starts to break out again. I won’t type out all the things that it is good for, but it is anti-inflammatory which helps with hormonal acne (which is the literal worst kind :/ ).  Take Tumeric, and see all your problems go away (Not really lol).

And that is it! I have used these products since around April and I have never had more clear skin (since I was 12 at least lol). I’m sure a lot of it has to do with becoming older, but I do have very acne prone skin, and I notice that whenever I let up using any of these things/methods, I start to break out more. I hope this helps! To end this I’m going to share some pictures of my skin now. I don’t have any of when my skin was super bad but just know… that it was lol.

My Favorite Fall Accessories

Fall is finally here! I absolutely love fall and everything that comes with it:) The pumpkin spice everything, warmer clothes, and delicious scents Bath and Body comes out with:) Here are some of my favorite fall accessories!

Germ-X is a must have product for me every day of the year but I looovveee the smell of Bath and Body’s during the fall time. Coconut Pumpkin Latte is by far my favorite! It’s 3 of my favorite flavors rolled into one great scent! Plus, with fall comes flu season and viruses, I wash my hands like a crazy person so this comes in handy when I can’t get to a sink right away.

I use this palette basically everyday. But with colder weather comes warmer eyeshadows😂 This is my go-to palette!

I love hats. In the summer i prefer hats to sunglasses I just think they are alot cuter. Beanies are one of my favorite things though 😍 My mom bought me this one last year and I love it because it matches alot of my outfits. I also have a purple one and teal.

Obviously Im bad at taking pictures😝 I see these type of boots EVERYWHERE during fall. They are the pinterest shoe of fall basically. My friend talked me into buying these at a yard sale recently and I loovveee them! I normally don’t wear wedges or heels because I am tall anyways, but these are so cute I don’t care.  Oh and they wear only like 7$

BBW came out with this scent last year and I fell in love😍😍😍 I haven’t seen it yet this year though which breaks my heart:( It is sooo warm and cozy smelling! Plus the bottle looks like a cable knit sweater.. And yes I am the type of person who switches body sprays with the seasons😄

I also coordinate lipsticks with the seasons. These two from colourpop are my top picks for this fall. Aquarius is my perfect everyday color.  And Dalia is my favorite dark lipstick. (My little sister is also named Dalia:)

Tj said that he can also tell what season it is by looking at my nail polish. The two I bought for this fall are Essie’s Stylenomics (a dark forest green) and Sally Hansen’s Navy Fleet (a light colored navy).

I hope you enjoyed this post! I love seeing people’s favorites and what they love! Have a blessed day!

10 Ways To Look Less Tired

It doesn’t matter if I get 8 hours of sleep or 5 hours, I always look tired. I have had dark circles under my eyes even when I was little. So with that being said, I have learned a thing or two about how to look awake, fresh, and rejuvenated:)

1- Avoid dark colors

Especially if you already have dark hair and eyes (like me), wearing a black shirt or even a dark lipstick can draw more attention to dark circles under your eyes. Even black eyeliner can drag you down. Try to opt out for an eyeliner that compliments your eye color. (I use copper or purple since I have brown eyes)

2-Wear your hair in a half up-do.

With all of my hair up, I look tired. With all of my hair down, I look tired. But wearing a half up-do opens up and frames the face. Plus its in style now!

3- Use a color correcting concealer.

Color correcting is definitely not something I was on board with. Except for peach toned concealers. I got mine from NYX for only 5$ and it really does make such a difference! I either just use the NYX concealer or layer it under my Nars Radiant Creamy concealer.

4- Wear earrings.

What better way to distract others from your dark circles than a pair of sparkly studs?! 😉 But really though, whenever I wear earrings it draws attention away from the center of my face and balances it out. I prefer 💎 studs or something sparkly.

5-Avoid matte finish makeup.

This may be debatable, but in my personal experience whenever I use matte foundation/concealer/lipstick, I tend to look more tired and flat. I prefer more dewy, glowy skin. Or even like a satin finish foundation because I feel like it looks more natural and healthy. (I’m not saying that everyone who uses matte finish foundation looks tired btw)

6- Wash your face with cold water.

When you feel awake, you tend to look more awake and what else wakes you up like a splash of cold water? Personally I love washing my face with cold water in the mornings, though it did take some getting used to!

7- Use light/beige colored eyeshadows.

Whenever I’m in a rush I take a light pinky beige eyeshadow and apply it all over my lid and up to the browbone. This brightens up the whole eye area, makes your eyelashes stand out a bit more, and makes your eyes look bigger.

8- Use an eyecream.

I am a skincare junkie. I love finding new products that help better my skin. This eyecream by Clinique is fairly new and I got it with some of my Sephora points. A hydrated under eye area not only looks healthy and youthful, but also helps prep the skin for makeup.

9-Keep it simple.

Less is more. Whenever I wear a ton of eyeshadow and liner and blush and bronzer and highlighter etc etc….. Throughout the day it can make me look tired. Some nights I wash off my makeup only to find that I looked more tired with it on than I did without. So if you didn’t sleep a lot or have been traveling, or stressed lately try to keep your makeup simplistic.

I don’t really think this one deserves an explanation because isn’t coffee the answer to everything?😜

I hope some of these helped you and if you know of anymore let me know! Don’t stress away your joy over vanity (like i tend to do sometimes). Remember that God made you beautiful and for a purpose (dark circles and all)!!

CoverGirl Oh Sugar Lipstick Review

I have been thinking about buying this lipstick for awhile now. Mainly because I love the name (Soda) and the packaging is super cute;) This is a sheer tinted lip balm (like Loreal’s Pop Balm or Maybelline’s Baby Lips). I got mine at Walmart for around 5$ (with a coupon).

First of all, it smells just like Cherry Coke! I don’t know what the rest of the line smells like but Soda smells super delicious!

It looks really dark and intimidating when you open it but since it is a sheer formula, it isn’t as dark on the lips as it looks like it’d be.

Here is a swatch. Since this is a balm, it is not going to be very long-lasting or transfer proof. Also, I exfoliated my lips before applying it which helps a lot with any lipstick.

This is one layer which is pretty pigmented. It almost looks like I just got done eating strawberries;) haha

So, all in all, I really like this lip product! I would definitely buy more from the Oh Sugar line. There was a lot of pretty colors too so I might go back sometime and check the others out:)

My Desk/Vanity Tour

So I finally got a new desk! My old one had a lot of storage which I liked but it was too bulky. I wanted something simple and the Metro Collection desk from Walmart is perfect:)

I loved that it is wood and metal. It gives it an urban vibe to it and can be dressed to match about any theme you like.

There is a brid’s eye view. Even without hanging the mirror, I still have lots of room for my laptop, books, planner, or whatever else I’m doing.

On the right side of the desktop I have a jewerly holder which I got from Target. It holds all my necklaces and my most used bracelets. I also have a couple nick nacks that I like to keep close by. Oh and that is a picture of my and husband by the way:)

On the left side I keep a glass/rose gold desk organizer (also from Target) with my eyeshadow palettes, brushes, and some other products that I use everyday. The elephant lamp my husband bought for me for Christmas last year, it is from Walmart. The big rosegold canister is actually a candle holder with a coconut candle inside (also from Walmart). And the picture behind my lamp is something my little sister made for me:) Itis of sea turles and coral. I just haven’t had a chance to hang it or my mirror up yet.

So I obviously need some lesssons on organization… I bought organizers but they didn’t fit.. I don’t mind the chaos though;) Obviously I store the rest of my makeup here. There’s probably more here than one person should need but thats okay;) I keep my smaller palettes, eyeliners, lipliners, lipsticks, primers etc…… here.

The right side drawer is a drastic change;) I keep my most used stationary stuff here. My planner (to the left), a cute notebook for blog ideas, sticky notes, lots of sticky notes! And I guess I thought it would be a good place to store my car air fresheners here too.. (?) Who knows. haha

I also have cat washi tape… isn’t it cute??!!! 😀 I washi taped some of my eyeshadow brushes, nail polishes, and single eyeshadows with it:)

That is it! I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe got to know me a little bit better. Maybe you even got inspired to decorate you desk/vanity:) If you have any questions about where I got anything or prices let me know!

Remember that you are loved through your weaknesses:) , Bryonna

NYX Color Corrector Concealer Review

Hello! I picked this concealer up at Ulta last month and have been (surprisingly) loving it! I never really bought into the whole color correcting trend but this concealer may have changed my mind:)

I have always had dark under eyes. Mostly it is because of my bone structure. The light hits my face and cast a shadow under my eyes. But also because my skin is very thin and delicate around my eyes.

This concealer has coconut oil in it which makes it blend out easily. (I may or may not have bought this because it said coconut on the packaging…..) I expected a dry, hard to blend concealer but I was wrong! It’s very moisturizing, yet also long lasting:) Even though I have oily skin, this stays throughout an 8-hour workshift with little creasing. However, if you have a really hard time with concealer creasing, I suggest when using this that you set it with a face powder.

I got this lightest shade out of the three, and it goes very well with my skin tone:)

This was only 5.99$ at Ulta which is, awesome! Considering a lot of drugstore brand concealers are twice that price.

Now for comparisons….
Would I replace my holy grail, Nars Radiant Creamy Concealer with this? Absolutely not. That concealer is my soul-mate and irreplaceable.  But….. this is definitely in my top 3 concealers. It’s perfect for every day,  light coverage.  But whenever I’m super tired, or have a long day ahead of me, or want something a little more full coverage,  I use my Nars concealer. Sometimes I’ll use them together by blending the Nars concealer over the NYX one…. It’s a match made in heaven:)

I hope this review helped you and that you enjoyed it! I love reviews so there will definitely be more to come! Have a blessed week!:)

May Favorites!

Summer is finally here!!! And with it, my May favorites! I have some beauty products and some random stuff that I have used a lot and enjoyed this month. Let me know some of your favorites in the comments!

So I actually read about 5 books in May but these two were my favorites♡♡ Dee Henderson never disappoints and Taken was one of her best. If I Run was…. I don’t even know. Outstanding. It was sooooo good! Although I didn’t know it was the first in a three part series:/ so I have to wait a year to read the second one:( This book was amazing though. One of the best I have read suspense wise in years.

This is Lunch Money from Colourpop. I have had this highlighter for about a year but I recently started using it again and fell in love:) It’s a pretty champagne toned cream highlight.

Another beauty favorite is this Wet n Wild blush in Rose Champagne. I am not a blush person. I just never reach for it and when I do its the same blush I have used for like, 5 years. Lol
But I seen this at Walmart and fell in love with this color! It is so different than what I have seen before. And the quality is as good as my Sephora blush (Wet n Wild never disappoints).

Considering this is the only eyeshadow palette I have used this month… there’s no need to say how much I love this palette. If I could only have one palette forever it’d be this one:) I did a review with swatches if you wanna check that out:)

I have been using this concealer on work days and whenever I just need to go somewhere real quick. By no means does it replace my Nars concealer but for every day, its a good option because its cheap and does a decent job:) A little goes a long way with this concealer and I love the coverage:) I got a shade too light for me though so I am going to purchase a darker one soon:)

My two favorite songs have been these two.  But I have been listening to Bizzle’s album Surrender nonstop. Every song is awesome:) Especially Better With You:)

My Current Favorite Makeup Products

When it comes to makeup products that i absolutely have to have, the products that are the bare necesssities of my collection (pun intended;p) and products that I just really cant get over, it would have to be these products that I am about to share with you. Some of these I’ve used for a couple years now and some of these are fairly new to my collection but I love them just the same and honestly I can’t see myself getting over any of these products or wanting to replace them. 🙂

So without any further ado, I’ll begin with the TooFaced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer. This primer is suppose to hydrate and obviously replenish your face for a dewy and healthy looking finish. And for me it does exactly that. Although I tend to forget just how moisturizing this primer is until my skin is dry, then I fall in love with it all over again. This is the perfect every day primer that never fails. Plus it smells like coconuts and has a cool little pump thingy!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES      If you are like me and like to take dewy skin to the next level, the SmashBox PhotoFinish Primer Oil will be your best friend. I only have the sample size of this right now:( But when I run out I doubt I’ll have any problems dropping a ridiculous amount of cash for this. Firstly because it’s an oil. I LOVE oils. Beauty oils, body oils, hair oils, massage oils, and now a primer oil:D This smells like Bite Beauty’s Luminous Creme lipsticks (which I’m pretty sure smell just like the Garden of Eden) and lasts all throughout the day. It gives me just a beautiful radiant goddess-like glow to the skin without being greasy or sweaty looking. Also, it doubles as a skin care product because you can wear it under makeup or as a moisturizer before bed! Now that I’ve talked myself into buying the full size… lets move on to the next product;P

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES     One of my very first purchases from Sephora was the TooFaced Milk Chocolate Soleil Bronzer. Me and my mom got our makeup done there one time as a free service, 30 minutes and 200$ later (Nice one, Sephora) I was the proud owner of some products I still love today which includes this right here bronzer! Once again, (I smell things) it smells like chocolate. Not Hershey chocolate, but the Nesquick chocolate milk powder (the good stuff;)) This is a matte finish bronzer which I prefer over a satin or shimmer finish. I use this in the winter to darken up my neck when I’m pale and in the summer to add more definition to my face. Once again this is a double duty product for me. I use this all the time as a transition shade in my crease and sometimes I’ll do a light handed contour. It blends like a dream and lasts quite a while on the skin. Oh and did I mention it smells like chocolate?

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES     When Moses came down from Mt. Saini and was glowing I’m pretty sure God had just covered him in Benefit’s Watts Up highlighter. Okay, so  I’ve might have gone a little too far, but point is this is the most beautiful champagne cream-to-powder highlighter ever. I love this because I can build up the “wattage” or just add a slight gleam wherever I want. I have used this product soooo many times over the two years I’ve had it and it looks like I have barely put a dent in it. I really like that its in a tube so I can just apply it directly to my face without using any brushes. I also use this as an eyeshadow base and I’ll pat it over my lipstick to give a little more glow. NOTE: I do not use the applicator sponge that is on the other end of the package. I just blend it out with my fingers.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES      I honestly don’t know why I put off buying Urban Decay’s NAKED 2 pallete for so long. I guess because of the price tag and I haven’t really bought a pallete like this before, so I was a bit unsure if I’d even use it or not. But, I haven’t regretted buying this since the minute I bought it. Honestly, this is the only palette from Urband Decay’s “NAKED” line that I’m actually attracted to. I love neutral colors and this is just the perfect range of them. The packaging is really sturdy which is a plus for me because I’m clumsy. And I love the fact it has a mirror on the inside (even though I don’t even use it that often?;P) The formula of these shadows are very smooth and creamy. And the pigmentation is perfect. I have never been let down by Urban Decay’s eye shadows; these are no exception. The only thing I would suggest when using these (if you have oily eyelids like me) is to use an eyeshadow primer before using the shimmer/glitter shades. They will last a lot longer. My favorite shades are: Bootycall, Chopper,Snakebite, Suspect (My absolute favorite), YDK, and Blackout.

If you haven’t heard of ColourPop, you are missing out on a goldmine. ColourPop is a online makeup brand that is based in L.A. They make Lippies (lipsticks), lipliners, Ultra Matte Liquid Lipsticks, blushes, bronzers, highlighters, eyeshadows, eye liners, and creme eyeliners. All under 10$. Yep. And the quality is wayyyy better than most of the main drugstore brands. Their lippies and ultra matte liquid lipsticks are my favorite and thats what I’ll be including in my top makeup products. I have tried their matte and cream finish lippie stix and both are amazing. The color payoff is out of this world and it lasts on the lips, after eating, singing, etc. etc… And the colors are all unique and gorgeous! Their Ultra Matte lipsticks are my favorite though because I’m a fan of liquid lipsticks. I have the color Bumble which is my perfect terracota red. It matches perfectly with Rimmel’s Spice Lipliner. There are sooo many color I want to buy and they just announced the newest Ultra Matte collection for 2016 and I’m already saving my money;) Honestly, you can’t go wrong with ColourPop in my opinion.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES     Benefit’s Their Real mascara is a classic cult favorite. It’s still talked about today and for a good reason. From what I seen you either love or hate this mascara and I happen to love it. I don’t use this every day (which is why I have yet to buy the full size) I try to save it for special occasions. I have hooded eyes so its hard for me to find a mascara that adds length and volume to my eyelashes, without taking away from my eyeshadow underneath. This mascara, somehow, does just that. It gives me thick lashes and beautiful length. The only downfall, it’s pretty difficult to get completely off. Since there are probably a zillion other reviews on this product, I’ll move on. 😉

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES     Another product which is so overly hyped is the NARS Radiant Creamy Concealer. I’m sure everyone and their dog has heard of this concealer. Truth is whenever I heard someone start to rave about this product I immediately tuned them out because I feel like I’ve heard sooooo much about it already. But, after trying every drugstore concealer I finally broke down and decided to buy a highend one. This is the best concealer I have ever used and I never want to use a different kind ever again. I have had such a hard time finding a concealer that 1) covers my dark circles without making me look older and even worse after 2 hours than if I hadn’t of worn concealer. and 2) finding a concealer that actually covered my acne scars instead of making them look purple. I used this once and have never looked back! And I’m not ashamed of it either;P Seriously though, I can’t think of a better name than “Radiant Creamy”. It’s spot on.

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES      I love to try out Sephora brand products. I’ve never been disappointed by them and they are a lot cheaper than a lot of “name brand” products. The Sephora MicroSmooth Baked Blush Duo in the color Mangobeam is the PERFECT peach blush. I use this all year round and it always ties everything together no matter what the color scheme is. The pigmentation is perfect, not to harsh and not to light. And this last on my cheeks all day which is a big plus because I’m always resting my face against my hand. I really want to try this blush in Guava Glow. If you are really looking for a good blush and don’t want to spend 20 something bucks, I realllllllyy recommend this!

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES    Like I mentioned earlier, I love liquid lipsticks. Especially when they are matte finish. Recently I was online shopping at Sephora and was 10$ away from free shipping so I went to the travel size section and was browsing when I came across the Hourglass Opaque Rouge Liquid Lipstick. The brand Hourglass has always intrigued me but I had never tried any of their products. So I ended up buying the sample size of this lipstick in the color “Canvas”. Online this is described as a “dusty rose” color. But honestly, that description is just too vague. This is a nude rose color with terracota undertones. This is definitely a warm color lipstick and it is GORGEOUS. When I frist tried this on I just couldn’t believe how absolutely beautiful this color is! There is just something about it that I can’t find in any other lipstick color. It truly is one of a kind. The formula is a lot thicker than ColourPop liquid lipsticks, which makes it easier to apply. Its defintely on the creamy side of liquid lipsticks. It last for a long time and doesn’t settle in the creases on my lips. But as with any liquid lipstick I definitely recommend exfoliating before using this. I only have the sample size right now but I’m actually buying the full size within the next month. 🙂

SAMSUNG CAMERA PICTURES      Every person needs a good lip balm. My lips stay chapped all. year. long. It’s awful! I have tried a lot of lip balms and I always come back to the Vaseline Lip Therapy. It’s just what works best for me! My favorite is the Cocoa Butter formula but they have a couple other ones too like Rose, Creme Brulee, Honey, and regular vaseline. It may not seem like that big of a deal, but a good lip balm can do WONDERS for you, especially if you are like me and love liquid lipsticks. 🙂

I hope that you enjoyed reading this and found some products that you maybe want to try out! If you have any questions, comments, or encouragement please let me know in the comment section!!
